Admissions - Transfer
If you are enrolled in another graduate program, but have come to the conclusion that you would like to be part of the MIT-WHOI Joint Program, you can apply to our program.
The admissions policy for transfer students is the same process as for those applying to graduate school for the first time. You need to complete the admission application (which opens September 1), submit that along with three references, all unofficial transcripts from undergraduate schools and your current graduate institution and your TOEFL or IELTS if appropriate. The application deadline is December 15 for all prospective doctoral students.
Students who are admitted as transfer students may not fall under the same expected five year completion schedule as others. Other requirements may have already been fulfilled, and thus a shorter time period in the Joint Program may be expected.
See the application section to see all the details on the necessary submissions for application.
